Rapid development of PV industry has pushed forward the booming development of poly-silicon and the whole silicon industry in recent years. Especially after the financial crisis, when the prospect of world economy is still unclear, capacity and output of poly-silicon in domestic market have shown substantial growth. Capacity of organic silicon monomer doubles, and demand for silicon metal also increases due to soaring demand in automotive aluminum die-casting. However, the industry faces severe pressure from industrial upgrading and also has to eliminate a considerable amount of backward capacities. Although the state government has issued a series of policies to promote the development of the PV and silicon industry, the industry still lacks of some foundation works, which makes it hard for the policies to bear any specific fruit, the industrial information statistics to reflect the rapidly developed demand of the industry and the policymakers and relevant financial institutions to get a comprehensive knowledge of the industry. Based on the theme of “Improving industrial foundation work to promote healthy development of silicon industry, strengthening industry vertical cooperation to accelerate the development of downstream demand”, China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) will invite some relevant government departments to jointly host the 2010 International Silicon Conference & Photovoltaic Industrial Development Forum on September 15-17.
